Description:

The term 'karten' was borrowed from the English 'garden', and means almost exactly that. This word is arrested right to the middle period and became global during the early modern period. It originally had the sense more of an ornamental garden, but in modern High Common, it is used to mean that but also more commonly a small plot of land used to grow food, or even a subsistence farm. It is also occasionally a word for 'yard'. As a pali verb, it means to work in a garden.
